eBiss 3: What's new?

eBiss 3 is the ground-breaking new version of the successful EDI converter eBiss, which already has several hundred installations.

It features a revised user interface and all kinds of improvements "under the bonnet":  More than ever, eBiss will be your software for EDI, data conversion, B2B integration and data exchange.

The new eBiss 3 interface was designed with improved usability in mind. Compared to its predecessor, eBiss 3 will drastically improve the way you work with it (e.g. a detailled Rollback function) and also includes new features:

New features in eBiss 3

User and user groups

eBiss 3 now allows you to manage user rights on two levels:

With user groups you can add single users to groups with specific pre-defined rights, without the need to manually allocte rights to every user. User groups offer new possibilities to pre-define sets of rights for different areas within the company, e.g. view-only access or "run job but not change job".

The individual user rights are still available in eBiss 3. In case a user alredady has a specific right allocated from a user group, the individual / manual setting for this right will dominate.

Easier message management

Managing messages has become more comfortable in eBiss 3. First, there's a preview window at the bottom of each MessageBox. Secondly, extended features for debugging are now available.

For example, a message can now be directly analysed in order to determine the message type, communiction partners or to split the content into its documents - all without the need to create a job beforehand. It only requires the respective Repository (Recognizer, Analyzer, type definition and Reader). On selecting the message in the MessageBox, it can be analysed by clicking on the menu item ► Debug message ► Analyze message.

An analysed message can then be used to debug a mapping or report. This is done under the menu item ► Debug message ► Apply mapping. In the next step, eBiss 3 will list all available mappings or reports that match the source type of the selected message.

Mapping: No more separation between editor und debugger

eBiss3-Mapping      The mapping editor interface hasn't changed much. As an additional feature it is now possible to map fields now also from target to source object ("from right to left").

Mapping editor and debugger melted into one powerful tool

A highlight of eBiss 3 is the new debugging mode, which no longer requires a separate debugger window. After loading a document from a message into the mapping, you can see the results of mapping changes directly and live. The menu item to apply the mapping rules to a document is under ► Debugging ► Apply Mapping.

Display and edit mapping variables

During debugging, both the global source and target Frame Variables as well as the individual mapping variables will be displayed in a new tab at the bottom of the mapping window. The source Frame Variables can even be changed here for live testing.

Start second mapping without intermediate step

The mapping target object, once filled by applying = debugging the mapping, can now be used to directly start the following mapping. The target data will become the source object of this second (manual) mapping step. So far, it was necessary to save a Middleware XML file first, open the second mapping in the debugger and load the XML file. From now on, eBiss 3 will have a "Debugging" button also above the target object: This allows to save the target object as an (XML) file as before, or select the desired second mapping.

Keep track of mapping and workflow content

The new quick search function in eBiss 3 will make the daily routine a lot easier: In both workflow and mapping editors, you can search for text, field names, workflow names, workflow expressions etc. by using Ctrl+F, count or direcly replace the search results.

More features: Links and new databases

Jump directly to other components

eBiss3 startscreen dashboard      In eBiss 3, many modules are now linked, allowing a quick access by simply jumping there from the current position. For example, you can jump to Trading Partners or Sytem Partners from the MessageBox, and from there to the mappings or channels set for this partner. You can work on several modules simultaneously by opening links in new windows.
This new feature and therefore the links to related modules have been implemented throughout eBiss 3.

Multiple editing of several elements

Clicking on the "edit" button after selecting multiple records opens a mask with all those properties that can be edited simultaneously. Identical values will appear like in a normal view, different values will be highlighted.

Shadowcopy plugins

The new Shadowcopy function allows to copy new/changed DLL files into the Plugin directory, without having to restart the eBiss service or the WinClient. By using the new menu item  ► Maintenance you can now simply update the Shadowcopy plugins on the client machine, to use the new DLLs = plugins straight away.

New support for more databases

eBiss 3 now supports (in addition to MSSQL Server, MySQL and SQLite) also PostgreSQL.

Unique GLNs or locations on node-level

You can now select whethera location must be unique within an eBiss node or not, by selecting this unter ► Settings ► System settings. You can also decide and select if the TNr (eGate participant number) must be unique within the node.

Integrated licence management

eBiss 3 comes with an integrated licence management combined with licence keys, unlocking the respective features. The licence can very easily be activated online, or by importing a licence file e.g. on sytems now connected to the internet.
